Sunfire
(retired)
His registered name is actually Doc’s Golden St. O’Lena, but the big, handsome palomino Quarter Horse carrying Giancarlo down the lists as if he weighed nothing at all is known as Sunfire. At 16 hands, he is among the tallest of the Seattle Knight mounts, but don't let his size scare you; he's the friendliest fellow you'd want to meet, and about as laid-back as they come. Fast and dead reliable, he is seldom fazed by doings on the battlefield, and all the SK have been impressed by how easily he took to jousting, the light games, and anything else asked of him. This former King County Sheriffs Posse horse loves charging down the lists and delights in the audience's cheers. Born April 20, 1995, Sunfire is actually owned by Carolyn Egedal, who purchased him in 2004. When hubby Walt Szklarski needed to replace Cinnabar as his jousting steed, she generously handed him Sunfire's reins.
Sunfire was retired from active duty in 2015 after undergoing surgery on his left fetlock. Walt and Carolyn still own and love him, and are nursing him back to health.
