If she ever had papers, they are long lost, but Terra was most likely Quarter Horse, perhaps with just a drop of Spanish Mustang. A big girl, she stood 15.3, a red dun born somewhere around 1990. Terracotta – more often, just Terra – was bought for use as a lesson horse, but promoted to warhorse in 2003, bravely facing the lists for the first time as Terkota with Rowan aboard. Since that first show, she carried many Knights in the lists. Smart, cool-headed, and kind-hearted, she was the most forgiving of mounts, who loved having her ears scratched, and Grandma’s Oatmeal-raisin cookies in equal degrees. Retired in 2008, she was re-homed first to JoAnne Kirley as a companion to Chance, then to a family with a special-needs child.
